A perforated block of steel possessing an internal or female thread intended for use on an external or male thread such as a bolt it also possesses a slight disfigured top which keeps pressure on the inserted bolt to give greater resistance to loosening. It is also know as a tech type locknut. Same as grade 5. Use with astm a325 structural bolts.

Available in coarse and fine threads. They meet ifi standards 100 101 106 107 and 108 and ansi standards b18 16 1m b18 16 2m and b18 16 3m and can be used with higher carbon and alloy steel bolts and studs. Strength is similar to grade 5. Strength exceeds grade 5.

Requires the mating part to protrude a minimum of two threads to fully engage the locking element.
